Working with schools

NSPCC

1 in 5 children have experienced abuse or neglect in the UK. That's at least 2 children in the average primary school class.

Children need our help to Speak out and Stay safe.

Child abuse is preventable – not inevitable. That is why we're here, fighting for every childhood. Part of the work we do to keep children safe is to explain to them in an interactive, age-appropriate way:

  • what abuse is
  • how to spot the signs
  • and what to do if they are ever made to feel scared or worried by something.

Speak out Stay safe together

Because we weren't able to visit schools as we usually would during the COVID-19 pandemic, we developed a virtual Speak out Stay safe assembly for parents and carers to watch with their kids at home. It's fun for the whole family - and you might spot a few famous faces helping our volunteers present!

We’ve also come up with some fun activities to try at home - keeping children busy while helping them understand the right they have to feel safe and what to do if they ever feel worried or scared.
